Momento mori and park cemertrys

Death became a family affaire when took place, life was very short lived in the 1800s so the morning part was long wined tridition following in the footsteps of queen victoria whom morned for fourtys years for her husband. this eventually took ahold of everyone and became fashionable to morn for a long period of time after a loved one had passed.

Ladies would usually have manual suggesting how long they should mourn and what to wear, this was called "The Queen and cassels"
mirrors were cover with black fabric and a person in deep morning didn't attend an social events for up to a year.

Its a known fact that they took weeks to bury there dead as they feared that they could wake up in there coffins alive, if this ever did happen the person more then likly sliped into a coma and awoke before being buried.
They would also bury the dead with a string attached to there finger, joined to bell above the grave just incase they woke they can pull it and alert the living!!

There was also profescinal morners. you would pay them to turn up and howl and cry at your funeral. the people with the most mourners were obvisoly loved more hahahah

double exposed picture of a woman

Spirt photography was first used by William H. Mumbler in 1860, it was discovered by complete accident when taking photo of himself. This was actually double exposure.
He then later set up business when he realised there was a gap in the market for this sort of thing, and eventually got found out and was bought to trial.

Obvisoly these photos were hoaxes, it didn't stop other photographers from doing the same.  The victorians were obsessed with death and holding onto dead loved ones, they even went as far as taking family photos with the dead releitives in it proped up to keep them in place.
they would paint there eyes on to make them look alive.
This may seem compleatly strange now but then it was just part and parcel of everyday life.

whos the dead one?

this is a great example of family photos

MY GOTHIC LOCATIONS

I wanted to show my understanding of gothic horror and my OWN interpretation of horror though pictures of locations iv visited and photographed.

Gothic horror to me is the mind playing tricks, I deliberately visited places were I doubled checked there wasn't anyone behind me, I wanted to really feel that chill run down my spin and remember that moment. we ave to remember Gothic horror was seen a as not being civerlised in the early 1800s it was a change that was surrounded by mystry and supernatrual so i really wanted to continue that thinking in all of my resurch and understanding behind everything.

The first place I went to was Southampton common cemetery with Sophie i think subconsciously I thought getting someone to tag along with me would make the cemetery experiences less horrific. such a cliche place to visit, its going to have that typical feel of scariness I hear you say, well then u haven't seen this place, some of it untouched in years....hundreds of years.
Forgotten tombs dating back to 1800s, and this particular morning there was light snow in the air, which fluttered and coated the crisps leafs of the floor that crushed as we walked.
The cemetery was so still and the only sign of life was myself and Sophie.
We wondered around and before long the somber mood got to us, I remember a particular conversation falling from our lips about death and life , even though we have both been bought up with catholic backgrounds our feelings weren't so mutual so it was an interesting conversation.

About a week later I went on to visit a couple of other places the first was though suggestion of my dad. More Green Hospital. This place actually hasn't been shut down very long at all and some of it is still active behind the original building.
This beautifully, typical victorian building screams gothic horror you can imagine the stories that bounce around in there.looking like somthing from a hollywood horror.
Bilut in the early 1800s this place became refuge to Demetria patainces and mentally ill people.
Now thats horror to me, the thought of losing my mind gives me chills. the suffering that went on behinds theses four walls is unimaginable.
unfortunately I wasn't granted permission to accesses the the building so inside photos were out of the question,  maybe one day?.

what a somber looking building

This is the third place I stumbled across on an early sunday walk around the Eastleigh; With my Costa in hand I stomped the rolling hills clearing the back log of cob webs. When that creeping feeling started to linger into my head of needing to check over my shoulder, the camera came out.
I wont lie, the photos don't show much of out of ordanery.
No axe muderers or ghosts, if anything they look beautiful, peaceful. Maybe i'm mentally scarred from watching far too may horrors in which running into woods leads to death, but I couldn't deny those feelings

What is High Definition Broadcasting and how does it affect make up and hair artists?

Make up for film and TV isn't just used to cover a persons own appearance, it can also be used just to make the person look like them selfs, as HD TV shows the flaws the naked eye may not pick up.

The makeup needs to be blended extremely which is why a lot of make up artist resolve to using airbrushing.
Airbrushing isn't essenstal when working in HD  as there is makeup specially adapted to use on screen, such as Kryolan.
