Claudia & Quentin TV Series and ideas
•What
have you chosen – and why.
I have chosen True blood, the TV series
as my back drop for Claudia and Quinton.
I feel Claudia could easily be moulded to
fit in with the dark, quirkiness of
Bon-temps, and its diverse complex mysterious characters.
True blood not only has imaginations
running wild but also hearts with the “drop dead” , (no punt indented!) main
characters.
It’s a community full of magic and
mysteriousness were anything can happen
to anyone and each persons stories fit beautifully around Sookie and
her day to day going on.
•What
is the setting for series? American South, urban Bristol etc.
Within
the suburb area of Bon temps
Audience demographics
•Who
watches this?
The series is aimed at adult women and
men 18 years to late forty's. It gives the viewer a touch with the dark side,
and a feeling of playing with fire.
Women tend to enjoy the romance and story
telling while men love the violence and sex.
•Hopeless
romantics
•Crazy
in love
•despiration
Your
first character
•How
do they fit in with the series?
Claudia is known well within the Bon
Temps community as a local crazy, and Sookie has taken a shine to her, feeling her
sorry for being an outcast.
Sookie completely understands the sadness that
comes from being seen different by everyone and goes out of her way to look
after her as she's acrophobic. She visits her on a weekly basis at her
apartment rented off her good friend, shape shifter and boss, Sam Merlotte.
•How
will the setting inform your character.
She will have a ever changing appearance,
such as hair or makeup possibly a
superficial wounds, but this Is just accepted by Sookie as part of her personality
•What
will you need to change/add to your character?
Ill need to add history for Claudia to
fill her out as a character to become more believable i.e.
•She
has a addiction to V (Vampire blood)
•She
attended the same school as Sookie Stackhouse
•How
will the look appeal to audience demographics?
Its purposely tailored around the
everyday goings on, just like the TV series and books we see the blood but who
did it come from?
It will have the dark seduction and
mysterious to it like that of the series.
What
key word did you choose to develop your first character?
•Why
did you choose it.
I chose fork as my key word for Claudia
as it’s the
weapon that she uses on Quinton to stab him in the neck when her materializers
in her apartment.
•What
did the key word inspire you to investigate? Photography/other films/other
horror characters/books etc.
•Iv
looked into neck wounds that have been inflicted by bluntter
objects.
•The
amount of blood loss from these injurys
•What
scene do you see your character in – reference the setting and styling of
character, character motivation
•This
will be the last scene with both Quinton and Claudia in it. Quinton ha appeared
in her apartment fresh from a feed witch is obvious to Claudia. She also knows
that feeding on humans generally leads to sex because of the power of blood and
vampire bite is amazing. So Claudia go's into a rage and stabs him with a
silver fork in the neck.
Sookie
knock the door with her weekly shop and sees Claudia in a guilty crazed state,
sees all the blood but no one else……so who
What
key word did you choose to develop your second character
•Why
did you choose it.
I chose face as my key word for Quinton
as his appearance is always either muted or focused when he appears in
Claudia's apartment, this is depending on her moods.
•What
did the key word inspire you to investigate? Photography/other films/other
horror characters/books etc.
Iv re watch woman in black as I feel this
is a good example of faces being muted or blurred. Its only occasionally that
you have a full feel of her appearance
Claudia Mood Board
i envision claudia a very desturbed girl, although this may not be visable from the out side. i origanally want to play around with the ideas of a dark eyes and lips but i would like her to lok a little bit more desturbed and yet normal at the same time. to do this im going to incoperate pop art into it as this give the look of her her not being real, which is like her current state of mind.

Claudia
Claudia is a girl in her twenties. As a child she was left alone to develop with little parental guidance and through her relationship with T.V. movies developed an unhealthy relationship with Horror films, believing this to be the way life really is.
All the scenes take place in various parts of Claudia’s apartment, which is European in style with
a great deal of kitsch décor. She is agoraphobic and is kept in touch with the outside world by her neighbours who provide her with her every day requirements. She models herself on a variety of girls often twisting her look to suit whichever film she is watching at the time and there is often
a nod to the main character in the current film within her appearance.

The script portrays her as psychotic and there is always the feeling that although her character is scripted/can be seen as humorous, danger is just around the corner. However all this is normal to Claudia and she is of a cheerful disposition in this mad world of hers.
Quentin
Claudia has an imaginary boyfriend, Quentin, who is long suffering and a constant disappointment to her. They don’t live together but he visits regularly and they talk on the telephone if he can’t get in to see her. As he is part of her imagination his appearance changes to suit her mood. Sometimes he will be a David Beckham looking guy, whilst in another scene he will appear as a Pete Docherty type, Daniel Craig type or a Hollyoaks Babe. If she is having a bad day he will morph into an uncouth couch potato chav with all that brings with it.
He is as into the horror film genre as she and into role-playing to suit her whims and moods.
Claudia has a paranoid suspicion that he is constantly having affairs behind her back and keeps him firmly under her thumb, sometimes restraining him or keeping him prisoner in one of the rooms.

- repeat the process again on the other side
Estella messying around with looks
Here i was playing around with different hair looks for Estella. i relised half way though creating this hair up that the time period for Estella dont match this hairand also the barrel curls at the front would need to be pulled further back.
practice for miss havisham
for my Miss Havisham look, I wanted half of my models face to be old and the old to be creeping over the younger freshers side of her face.
I dont relly feel the need to change much from my practice and hopfully it wil all go according to plan on assesment day.
practice for estella
iv really enjoyed creating and designing estella, however the areas i need to concentrate on for the final shoot will be, hair- taming any loss hair, i will also concider a nude lip instead of purpel.

esttela inspiration for final design
Its subtly suggested that Esstella was a victuem of domestic violance in her marrage, so with this in mind I wanted to reflect the brusing technques learnt that also suggest that in the finale image.
Iv been looking at fresh bruiseing and old brusing to help with designing and doing justise to Estella's finale design.

Momento mori and park cemertrys
Death became a family affaire when took place, life was very short lived in the 1800s so the morning part was long wined tridition following in the footsteps of queen victoria whom morned for fourtys years for her husband. this eventually took ahold of everyone and became fashionable to morn for a long period of time after a loved one had passed.
Ladies would usually have manual suggesting how long they should mourn and what to wear, this was called "The Queen and cassels"
mirrors were cover with black fabric and a person in deep morning didn't attend an social events for up to a year.
Its a known fact that they took weeks to bury there dead as they feared that they could wake up in there coffins alive, if this ever did happen the person more then likly sliped into a coma and awoke before being buried.
They would also bury the dead with a string attached to there finger, joined to bell above the grave just incase they woke they can pull it and alert the living!!
There was also profescinal morners. you would pay them to turn up and howl and cry at your funeral. the people with the most mourners were obvisoly loved more hahahah

Spirt photography was first used by William H. Mumbler in 1860, it was discovered by complete accident when taking photo of himself. This was actually double exposure.
He then later set up business when he realised there was a gap in the market for this sort of thing, and eventually got found out and was bought to trial.

Obvisoly these photos were hoaxes, it didn't stop other photographers from doing the same. The victorians were obsessed with death and holding onto dead loved ones, they even went as far as taking family photos with the dead releitives in it proped up to keep them in place.
they would paint there eyes on to make them look alive.
This may seem compleatly strange now but then it was just part and parcel of everyday life.
whos the dead one? |
this is a great example of family photos 21/03 |
